STÉPHANE DE GROODT PUTS HIS DRIVING GLOVES BACK ON

On the occasion of the second round of the Alpine Elf Europa Cup at Magny-Cours, which will host the 25 Alpine A110 Cup cars competing this year, actor Stéphane de Groodt will take the wheel of car number 110. After a driving session on Wednesday 11 May on the Nivernais circuit, Stéphane will compete against the drivers from 12 to 14 May 2022. He will repeat his performance in several stages of the Alpine Elf Europa Cup during the season.

Stéphane de Groodt is a seasoned asphalt racer who has shone in motor racing on many occasions. In 1992, competing in the Belgian Touring Car Championship, Stéphane de Groodt took his first podiums, winning three times at the wheel of a Renault Clio. Thanks to his seventh place in the general classification, this first experience was a real success. Only one year later, the Belgian driver took his first victory in the same championship. After this triumph, he joined the Clio Cup Internationale in 1994 and then the Formula 3000 Internationale with Team Vortex in 1995. Three years later, he joined the Belgian Procar which allowed him to obtain one of the best results of his career, where hefinished third in the championship, with three wins and six podiums.

This experience continued in 2000, when Stéphane de Groodt returned to single-seaters, finishing eighth and fourth the following year. He became Benelux vice-champion in 2001 with the Geva Racing Team. He continued his career in Formula 3 Eurocup or Habo da Costa Formula Renault, where he finished 10th, achieving three podiums in the same season. This last season in professional motorsport will mark the beginning of his new career and he will be recognised as one of the most talented actors and directors of his generation.

A SEASON THAT PROMISES TO BE BREATHTAKING

After the launch of the season in Nogaro and with the entry of Stéphane de Groodt in the Alpine Elf Europa Cup, the 2022 edition looks promising. Edwin Traynard, leader of the general classification, Lucas Frayssinet, winner of the first race in Nogaro, Philippe Bourgois, first in the Gentleman classification, as well as the twenty-two other competitors will be present. Only six points separate the top four in the overall standings, who will be looking to climb to the top of the standings to maintain their advantage.

The next event on the calendar will take place at the Magny-Cours circuit from 12 to 14 May 2022. The competition will be broadcast and followed live on Youtube.
